Kybella is an exciting non-surgical option to get rid of submental fat, or the “double-chin”. Kybella is the first and only injectable treatment to remove fat cells and tighten the underlying skin under your chin. Dr. Becker was one of the first doctors in Colorado to be trained on Kybella.
What is Kybella?
Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat under your chin, it causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, these fat cells cannot store or accumulate fat. Kybella may require multiple treatments to achieve your desired appearance, after which you will not have to be retreated to have continued results.
What to Expect
During a consultation, Dr. Becker will see if you are a candidate for Kybella. A physical examination of the area is the only way to determine if you are a candidate and how many treatments will be necessary to achieve your desired results. If you are a candidate, the doctor will create a custom treatment plan specific to your needs.
During the procedure, the area will be numbed. Dr. Becker will draw a grid pattern over the area and perform a series of injections around the area. You’ll be sent home with an ice pack, and we recommend icing intermittently to reduce swelling. You will swell slightly over the next three days, but this can be covered by a scarf or other clothing. After about a week, the swelling decreases and you will see your full results about six to eight weeks after the procedure. This procedure is usually recommended in a series of two injections 6-8 weeks apart.
