What is a PRP injection?
A PRP injection is an in-office procedure that uses your body’s own cells to promote healing and also increase the effectiveness of your diVa™ treatment. This method has been used extensively in orthopedics to assist with the treatment of a variety of joint diseases. It can also be used to treat lichen sclerosis or as an adjunct to treat stress urinary incontinence. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is derived from your own blood and using a specialized technique, it is injected into the vulva, vagina or other area of concern after the area has been anesthetized. This simple technique brings growth factors to stimulate tissue regeneration and collagen. It also stimulates nerve growth and increases blood flow to the area. The result depends on your area of focus. It can improve sensation and strengthen the orgasmic phase. Other benefits include improvement of vaginal dryness, urinary incontinence, and pain during intercourse. It can even improve symptoms of lichen sclerosis. Be sure to ask your provider if the PRP injection is right for you.
