What can microneedling treat?

How does microneedling work?

Microneedling (or SkinPen in our case ) is a small pen that creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin to stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process, while minimizing cellular damage. This process stimulates collagen production and results in the effective remodeling of scar tissue, while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact and leaving your skin rejuvenated. SkinPen uses a single use sterile needle cartridge and is surrounded by a sheath that acts as a barrier to prevent cross contamination making this procedure very safe and FDA approved!

Why do people add PRP to their microneedling treatment?

The addition of platelet rich plasma (PRP) uses your own blood to further improve collagen stimulation and shorten healing time. It can be added on to any microneedling treatment or even other laser treatments.

What can I expect during and after the treatment?

Your provider will apply a topical anesthetic for 45 minutes prior to the procedure. Most people feel little to no pain during the treatment. Sometimes you can have pinpoint bleeding in spots right after depending on the depth of treatment. After the procedure your skin will appear red immediately afterward, similar to a moderate sunburn, then it will fade to slightly pink by the next day. Some patients can experience mild swelling, dryness, tightness, and peeling of the skin over the next few days. After the first 24-48 hrs of the procedure sunscreen and makeup can be applied and normal activities can be resumed. 

How many treatments do I need?

Typically microneedling is done in a series of three treatments spaced a month apart to get ideal results.
