Sun Spots Q & A
What is IPL/BBL?
Intense pulsed light (IPL) is similar to Broad band light (BBL) in that it uses different wavelengths of light to correct a variety of common skin concerns. The light energy is delivered in 2-second pulses to shatter unwanted pigmentation, such as redness and sun spots giving an overall even tone. BBL treatments are noninvasive and safe for most skin tones and types.
What skin concerns are treated with BBL?
BBL treats many common skin issues, including:
- Hyperpigmentation
- Rosacea and redness
- Visible blood vessels
- Sun damage such as spots and freckles
- Age and sun spots
- Acne and acne causing bacteria
Talk to the providers at Rinnova Skin & Body to find out if BBL is the right treatment for you. The team helps you find the right therapy to achieve your aesthetic results.
Who is a good candidate for Moxi?
The idea of “prejuvenation” is meant for anyone starting to take care of their skin at a young age, those looking for a treatment without downtime, or for people who would like a touch up for maintain their healthy skin between bigger treatments. While Moxi is an excellent option for prejuvenation and improve overall skin quality, it can also treat specific issues like pigmentation, sun damage, melasma, and texture. Unlike many other lasers, this quick treatment can be used on all skin types year round. Most patients undergo a series of 3 treatments to start, with follow up annual treatments for maintenance. This revolutionary option battles the visible signs of aging while producing radiant, glowing skin that lasts.
Do BBL and Moxi treatments hurt?
During an BBL treatment, you wear dark glasses to protect your eyes from the intense light. As the handpiece glides across your skin and delivers light energy, you may feel a mild stinging, similar to that of a rubber band snapping against your skin.
Moxi uses a fractionated 1927 nm wavelength so typically patients numb for half an hour before this quick lunchtime treatment which patients tolerate easily. It's non-ablative laser energy requires no social downtime while correcting signs of aging and sun damage.
When are the results of BBL & Moxi treatments visible?
Some people are satisfied with the results they get after just one treatment. However, most people benefit from a series of three treatments scheduled one month apart. The team at Rinnova Skin & Body will recommend exactly how many sessions you need to achieve your goals.
Do BBL or Moxi require downtime?
Following BBL or Moxi treatments, you’ll have to be extra careful to wear sunscreen, as your skin is quite sensitive to ultraviolet light for several weeks after treatment. You can go back to your regular activities, but for the first few days you should avoid:
- Exfoliants and acne treatments
- Very hot baths and saunas
- Chlorinated pools
- Vigorous exercise
You should continue to wear sunscreen and protect your newly refreshed skin from UV light on a daily basis.
