Cellfina Cellulite Treatment Q & A

Why do I have cellulite?

Cellulite occurs due to how your connective tissue interacts with the superficial layer of fat that lies below it. The structure of women’s connective tissue allows fat cells to push through, giving your skin the orange-peel look. Women’s connective tissue is arranged vertically while men’s is arranged in a criss-cross structure; this makes it so cellulite is much more likely to show up in women.

Your risk of developing cellulite increases as you age and as your hormones change. If you gain weight due to poor dietary habits and a sedentary lifestyle, cellulite is also more likely to appear. You don’t have to be overweight to have cellulite though. Thin women can develop it too. Genetic factors also contribute to cellulite which is why certain women can have it at a young age.

What is Cellfina?

Cellfina is a minimally invasive system that treats the primary structural cause of cellulite. The Cellfina device releases the fibrous bands of connective tissue that allow the subcutaneous fat tissue to push through. The procedure smoothes out the connective tissue, thus reducing the dimples and puckering associated with cellulite. And you get results with just one treatment.

How soon are the results of Cellfina visible?

You can start to notice a reduction in the appearance of your cellulite in as few as three days but results continue to improve over the next few months. Cellfina is a one-time treatment and results are long-lasting.

Should I schedule downtime following cellulite treatments with Cellfina?

Cellfina is minimally invasive and uses local anesthesia. . You can go right back to your normal activities following treatment. Each session takes about 45-60 minutes. Some women choose to take it a little easy for 24 hours following treatment due to mild soreness or bruising. Bruising may last several weeks so this is not a procedure to have done before a beach trip.  Cellfina treatments don’t require you to take time off work or school.

What happens during a Cellfina treatment session?

The treatment area is first marked so all areas of dimpling are addressed and photos are taken for treatment purposes. The physician thoroughly numbs the area before treating each dimple. After the procedure, you are able to  drive yourself home. To learn more about how you can reduce cellulite with Cellfina, call Rinnova Skin & Body or book an appointment online.
